Director of Golf, Chris Marotto

Chris Marotto

Chris started playing golf at the age of 12 with his grandfather in Buffalo, New York. He was a member of his high school golf team and led Lancaster High School to their only Division Championship his senior year. He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Business Management Degree and moved to Alpharetta, GA in 2004. In 2010, Chris became a Class A PGA member and is an expert in the game and business of golf. Chris began his career in the golf industry at Iron Horse Golf Club (formerly known as Alpharetta Athletic Club and Crooked Creek Club) as a cart attendant and quickly worked his way up to Assistant Golf Professional, to Head Golf Professional, and then to Director of Golf During Chris’s time spent at the Club, he built the Club’s first ever PGA Junior League program and was able to grow the Club’s Junior Academy by nearly 500% Under Chris’ tenure, he also helped the Ladies Golf Association grow from 20 to over 40 members.

In 2012, Chris became the Director of Golf at The Manor Golf & Country Club While there he developed an MGA Cup, like the FedEx Cup, in which the players received points throughout the year to qualify for a shootout at the end of the season which increased member usage across all departments He also created The Manor’s Ladies Golf Association which did not exist prior to his arrival and created the Manor Junior Golf Academy His PGA Junior League teams won two titles while utilizing his player development program He also captained two all-star teams as a result.

In 2019, Chris was runner up for Golf Professional of the Year among over 200 ClubCorp properties Chris left The Manor in 2020 to become the General Manager of Legacy Golf Links and Fox Creek Golf Club in Smyrna, GA Under his leadership, Chris was awarded Club of the Year within the Bobby Jones Links portfolio in 2021 which was based on several factors including financial performance, customer service standards, and overall satisfaction of the employees and guests. In 2021 as a player, Chris finished 52nd in the Georgia PGA Player of the Year Standings and inside the Top 20 in the PGA North Chapter Standings.

Chris is married to his beautiful wife named Laurie and has two wonderful children named Maximus and Mia He is very excited to see his career come full circle back to Iron Horse Golf Club and is dedicated to elevating the golf operation and service levels to match the finest private clubs in the North Atlanta area.

Don Peterson

Don Peterson is one of the most accomplished and experienced teachers in the world. For more than 30 years, TOP 50 Golf Instructor Don Peterson has forged a path to better golf instruction He has taught more than 100,000 people and has been voted a TOP 50 Instructor in the United States three times by Golf Range Magazine. Don’s students have included, comedian Jeff Foxworthy, NFL legend Brett Favre, and 2004 Open Champion Todd Hamilton. Don has authored three books; “Miyagi For Golf”, Start Golf Now, and Baseball Golf.

Don is a member of The Proponent Group, a community of accomplished teaching professionals from around the globe. The member network includes more than half of the GOLF Magazine Top 100 Teachers, more than 150 PGA Section Teachers of the Year, more than a dozen PGA National Teachers of the Year as well as the owners and operators of over 50 golf academies.
